Candice Davis was 30 years-old when she lost portions of all four limbs after a serious bout with COVID-19. Her discharge from the hospital was the start of a new life.
“I have to be able to move forward,” she said. “I do believe there’s a reason I’m still here…God orchestrated a lot of things so that I didn’t die.”
Those closest to her have noted the mental resilience and positivity she displays in spite of the challenges.
“You have to be so unbelievably strong and resilient to do what she’s done,” said Cate Thurman, occupational therapist. “I think a lot of people didn’t expect her to be able to walk or stand or have the independence she’s chasing now.”
